Ashen Crownlands

Ashen Crownlands is the offline RPG I recommend most often. It's turn-based, story-heavy, and doesn't waste your time with energy timers or forced waits. You build a party of four, each with their own skill tree, and the combat rewards planning over grinding.

The writing surprised me. Characters remember choices you made hours earlier, and side quests occasionally loop back into the main plot in ways I didn't expect. Battles are readable — you can always see turn order and damage ranges — so losses feel like your mistake, not the game's.

It's a big download, but once it's on your phone you never need a connection again. I finished the main story over a couple of long trips and immediately started a second run with different party choices.
